Fei Liu Wins the IJL 2013 Editor’s Choice Award for the Second Time
Fei Liu has won, for the second time, The Editor’s Choice Award from the IJL 2013 which recognizes originality and innovation.

Fei Liu has won, for the second time, the Editor’s Choice Award from the International Jewellery London 2013. The designer was also commended in the Technical Excellence category by a panel of judges that included jewellery journalist Claire Adler.
The winning design was a solid rock crystal cuff that was hand-carved from a single piece of quartz. This particular piece was then drilled with great precision to mount dozens of platinum and diamond butterflies. The cuff is one of three rock crystal pieces designed as a set of catwalk jewellery for the Platinum Guild International, where Fei Liu is a design consultant.
The IJL Editor’s Choice Award is particularly coveted in the jewellery design industry as it honours and recognises designers who are creating “original and cutting edge jewellery”. After the award, Fei Liu described his design’s inspiration: “I feel it is always important to push the boundaries of the materials available to us. To be recognised as being at the forefront of technical excellence in design is an honour and we are all delighted that IJL have been able to share our vision.”
The designers’ award-winning pieces will be showcased at the International Jewellery London 2013 in September. Liu is also currently a nominee for Jewellery Designer of the Year.
