Something Old Something New…
L claims that although she dreams of the idea of an heirloom vintage engagement ring she has not put too much thought into it given the fact that neither of us has inherited such a piece from any distant relative.
I on the other hand believe that where there is a will, there is a way and apparently David McLoughlin shares my belief and has turned it into a form of art!
The beauty of David’s bespoke pieces is that they can be created from lots of different pieces of jewellery (and perhaps memories) to create a final, new ring. David is a champion of recycling, re-using and reclaiming all resulting in exquisitely modern yet vintage looking rings with many tales to tell.
David’s true brilliance is shown by the fact that you honestly cannot tell the difference between his pieces made from new or recycled materials.
Each one is created in such a new and refreshing style that although they may exude a vintage engagement ring look they are also elegant, classic and modern.
One of my favourite creations by David is a unique vintage engagement ring he built from 18ct gold and clustered marquis and brilliant cut diamonds.
The diamonds sparkle hypnotically in an impressive group effort while surrounded by the almost fluid-like form of the metal band.
The effect is clearly a tribute to the 1920s Art-Deco style but with a modern flair that makes the overall piece look quite progressive and refreshingly contemporary
