Cleverly Playful Vintage Engagement Rings
F and I always enjoy looking at a designer’s work and trying to guess the origins of their artistic inspiration prior to meeting them. Sometimes we are spot on and other times way off the mark.
However, after viewing a few of Jo Bell’s vintage engagement rings we both agreed that we could identify beautiful Art-Deco and early 20th-century Continental modernist influences along with a great appreciation for function, form and tradition.
I was completely taken by one of Jo’s vintage engagement rings that could only be described as sleek, curvaceous, delicate and bold.
To my delight I found that the ring was known as an Interlocking Wedding and Engagement Ring and the name was quite self-explanatory. The clever, yet aesthetically appealing form was enhanced by the ring’s curious functionality which also served to hold great symbolic meaning.
The two separate gold bands literally intertwined and interlocked with each; consequently two become one which is the ultimate symbol of unity.
This particular hand-crafted vintage engagement ring was made from two bands of rich yellow gold that encircled a dazzling solitaire diamond in an almost fluid-like fashion. The way the two rings merged together so seamlessly made the ring appear even more substantial and the clever interlocking mechanism would, for me, provide hours of entertainment! I found that Jo is highly skilled at creating these interlocking dual pieces and each one takes on a uniquely different form.
