Unusual Blue Engagement Rings by Nicola Hurst
The moment I saw the use of shapes in Nicola Hurst’s design I was immediately taken with it. I wanted to pick it up and feel it as the texture of the stones looked very inviting. L and I are always interested to see which new materials designers use in their jewellery. We’ve seen quite a range, but none quite so unusual as blue engagement rings containing sea glass!
L and I had spent ages trying to guess the gemstone but we both turned out to be wrong when Nicola revealed the material she had used.
Nicola explained that her client had brought the sea glass to her and asked her to use it in her creation. The combination of the gem choice and shapes makes this to be one of the most unusual blue engagement rings I think I’ve seen! I love that Nicola was able to create something so personal and unique for her client.
It must be a very special piece for them to wear knowing that no one else will ever have the same design. L and I admired the slight imperfections within the stone as it gave it an even more natural feel. The deep colour of the blue is very eye catching and grew on us the longer we looked at it.
