Unusual Coloured Diamonds | Black Engagement Rings
Black engagement rings are somewhat of a rarity these days. I’ve seen a fair few vintage designs with darker stones but modern jewellery tends to lean away from this, particularly when it comes to wedding pieces. I immediately gained respect for Anton Kata for tackling the momentous task of creating a celebratory piece with a not-so-celebratory colour.
As soon as I laid eyes on his design I fell in love with it.
People sometimes associate black negatively but Anton’s black diamond portrayed nothing but elegance to me.
The gorgeous diamond has been cut into a pear shape and looks exceedingly classy. It feels as if Anton has gone for the vintage vibe with this cut and he’s definitely pulled it off.
The white gold band has been rhodium treated so that it matches the dark depths of the centre stone. I thought Anton might have gone with a brightly coloured metal to counteract the stone’s darkness but I’m so glad he didn’t; they work perfectly together.
Anton’s surrounding canary pace adds a beautiful glint of gold and provides just the right touch of colour.
Anton has clearly not shied away from black engagement rings and with good reason too! This design has pulled me to the dark side and ignited a love in me for darker diamonds.
